The Daimler-team in the new facilities in Sindelfingen

In January we moved into our new project office at the Schwert street in Sindelfingen.

There works a team of 11 technical calculation engineers under ideal conditions for our client since many years, Daimler AG.

The opening party has already taken place and our colleagues have vigorously tackled the new tasks.
We can participate in innovative vehicle developments for Daimler AG. We contribute to this thanks to our knowhow in the area of impact analyzes throughout the whole vehicle.

We have moved!

After finishing some things still to do in the building during the recent months, we finally moved to our new company building in Plochingen.

LS-DYNA Forum successfully concluded

The Dynaforum was a very nice and interesting event once again.
Many thanks to the organizers for the good organization, to the kitchen for the tasty food, the perfect service and the always-filled buffets, to the speakers for the interesting contributions and of course to all who visited us at our booth.
See you next time!

LS-DYNA Forum

This year we are present as Silver Sponsor with our own booth at the LS-DYNA Forum of developers and users in Filderstadt.
We look forward to stimulating conversations, interesting talks and new ideas.

Topping out ceremony

On 13th June we celebrated the topping out ceremony in Plochingen. The traditional speech was pronounced purposefully and entertainingly by a member of the Wager company.
Afterwards, we all ended the day with good food, cozily gathered.

It goes ahead

The structure of the building is now almost finished. We are a bit late due to the long winter and the bad weather. Target move date: 1st January 2014.

We used the occasion to take a few pictures with sun and a blue sky.

Kube new building in Plochingen in the snow

The underground floor is already standing. In the second photo you can see the south side with the adjacent building of the hotel 'GASTwerk'.

The entrance to the underground car park is at the south side. It passes behind the adjacent hotel 'GASTwerk'.

Kube builds a building in Plochingen

The most important key data:

The construction began in mid-October. In May 2013 the new building of Kube GmbH Ingenieurbüro will be ready for occupancy. The works in the construction of the structure progress at full speed. The topping out ceremony will take place on 07.03.2013. We have not only planned the building to expand, but also to realize our new corporate concept.

We congratulate our engineering student and current employee for her very successfully completed master thesis.

Here is a short summary:

Definition of an automated Process for fiber-oriented design of Carbon components with the TFP method

The thesis was carried out in order to develop an automated process for the composite fiber direction optimization, develop an effective method for mapping the surfaces of a composite material from 3D to 2D, which will later enable the TFP (Tailored Fiber Placement) to be applied for the carbon fiber composite design. A carbon fiber component that made with these processes can utilize thoroughly the advantages of the composite material. Because the fiber direction is coincident with the stress distribution as calculated in the FEM simulation. Based on the principal stress analysis and the definition of eigenvector and eigenvalue a fiber direction optimization algorithm and program was developed. Furthermore, the existing methods of 3D to 2D mapping were also analyzed. One method was further extended with more details, thus this method can be applied for flattening a 3D surface to 2D. A validation of this method was successfully executed with a test model.

Calculation, optimization, analysis of the results

Information about the status of the diploma thesis 'monolithic monocoque':

1) Sharp vision methods:

a shell model of an already existing CFRP monocoque was created. Various load cases (torsion among others) will be calculated. Next, the deformation modes and tension tensors will be evaluated to obtain a better understanding of the load paths in the system.

2) Structure optimization:

in addition, another model, which will use the maximum available space, will be created. With the help of the optimizers of the ATOM structure (Abaqus), a kind of skeleton of the original structure will be created, which will better meet the external demands. In this regard, elements with low stretching energy will be successively removed. By means of these two steps, a reasonable basis has to be created in order to design the construction according to the requirements.

Status of the diploma thesis 'monolithic monocoque'

Construction of an external shell structure considering the available clearance space (driver, instruments, specifications regulations). After the installation of all external loads, elements (cf. stringers and frames in aircraft construction) are integrated for dismantling these loads.

Start of the diploma thesis 'Design and calculation of a monolithic monocoque for a Formula Student vehicle'

Nowadays, frame structures for racing consist almost exclusively of fiber-reinforced plastic (CFRP). Considerations should be given about up to what point a monolithic structure can meet rigidity, strength and safety requirements. As an example, this should be carried out using a chassis for a Formula Student vehicle.

In the picture on the right, there is a monocoque in sandwich construction belonging to the racing team of the University of Stuttgart.

Start-up of the solar system

We use part of the 960 trillion kW of energy that the Sun sends to the Earth and, thus, we carry out an active environmental and climate protection.
