Kube GmbH is proud to have supported the NTHU Racing Team of National Tsing Hua University (NTHU) in Taiwan in their participation at Formula Student Germany – a project that combines technical expertise, international collaboration and innovative spirit.
The NTHU Racing Team consists of highly dedicated engineering students who develop state-of-the-art electric vehicles and regularly compete in international Formula Student competitions in Japan and Europe. Since its founding in 2015, the team has transitioned its vehicles from conventional internal combustion engines to innovative electric powertrains – achieving remarkable successes, including 2nd place at FSAE Japan 2019.
A technological milestone in the team’s history is the TH07, a 2023 vehicle featuring an integrated autonomous driving system that seamlessly combines manual and driverless operation. With this model, the team achieved 2nd place in the DV-Skidpad event at the Formula Student Czech Republic (FSCZ) – an outstanding achievement.
Currently, NTHU Racing comprises 92 members from various disciplines, organized into eight specialized subgroups. The majority of students come from the Power Mechanical Engineering (PME) department. Under the leadership of a captain, vice-captain and technical director, the team continuously develops its vehicles in a compact, well-equipped lab. The lab includes a racing simulator, welding station and modern computer workstations, providing optimal support for both construction and testing.
Technical Support by Kube
This year, the NTHU Racing Team participated in Formula Student Germany (FSG), one of the largest international engineering and motorsport competitions for students. At the annual event held at Hockenheimring, university teams from around the world compete against each other. Each team designs, constructs and tests a single-seater race car that meets strict technical standards.
To ensure compliance with the rules for chassis and frame construction, each team must submit a Structural Equivalency Spreadsheet (SES). For the review of this spreadsheet, the team’s chassis lead, Zhen Yie Tam, worked closely with our CAE Engineer Hoang Long Nguyen. Long supported the team in preparing and reviewing the SES, checked compliance with technical regulations, and additionally validated the dimensions and material properties of the chassis and monocoque. Thanks to this technical support, the team successfully met all requirements and was able to participate in the competition.
